Day 1 - YIKES!!!

Well, this is it. I turned 43yo three days ago, and I weigh the most I've ever weighed. I have sleep apnea, my blood pressure is starting to creep up (136/94 last week!) and I've been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. On the flip side, my cholesterol is only 151 and I can still take control of this run-away train. Being overweight has gone on long enough. Rick and I are done, so I can eliminate that distraction. My priorities now are: my health and living the life I want to be happy, my son (who is not too far away from being grown), my job and getting my degree next December. How wonderful it would be to be at goal when I walk for my diploma!

I don't have it all figured out yet - and that's what's scaring me. For now, I'm committing to write down everything I eat, to walk 30mins 5x a week, and to stay away from fast food (the bad stuff) for the next 7 days. I'm going to shoot for staying around 1400-1500 calories. This means I'm going to have to make a list of the things I can eat when I want to grab something quick. That's always what gets me. I don't plan, and then, because I have nothing to eat, I end up grabbing something bad for me. Tomorrow, I will go to the grocery store to stock up.

Just for today, from this moment on, I'll make good choices - because I'm worth it!

YES you are worth it! I find having fresh veggies or fruit around for a quick snack helps a lot. When I feel hungry, I try to grab an apple and a cheese stick. Make sure you eat it slowly, that will help you feel more satiated.
